Msida Townhouse

A harmonious reimagining of a Maltese townhouse for a new generation.

Curved Lines, Classic Heart

This renovation focused on transforming a traditional townhouse in Msida into a calming retreat for a young couple starting their life together. The brief was clear: respect the soul of the building while introducing refined, contemporary touches that would carry the space into the present day.

A sculptural hallway arch  – which defined the rest of the design, greets you at the entrance, flanked by restored patterned tiles that guide you inward. Where original flooring couldn’t be salvaged, a soft limestone-look tile was chosen—visually seamless, yet practical, lending a timeless elegance to the open-plan area.

The arch motif carries throughout the design: from the softly framed transition between old and new volumes to the bespoke curved fireplace and pendant lights above the dining table. These rounded gestures bring a sense of movement and cohesion across spaces.

Natural textures – walnut joinery, brushed brass accents, and olive-green cabinetry – offer a warm counterpoint to the serene plastered walls. The kitchen, in deep navy with solid wood highlights, adds tailored depth, while the study and bathroom adopt a more organic, earthy palette.

Balancing classical rhythm with modern restraint, this home tells a story of thoughtful beginnings—rooted in context, yet tailored for modern living.
