Compact charm meets quiet elegance

Once a forgotten kerrejja block tucked away in the historic streets of Floriana, this building has been sensitively reimagined as a series of studio apartments designed for contemporary city stays. The aim was to elevate its unassuming past, creating thoughtful, liveable spaces that blend simplicity with refined character.

Each unit was conceived as a self-contained haven—carefully planned for functionality while embracing calm and comfort. A restrained material palette carries throughout: oak-toned cabinetry, slatted timber accents, and herringbone flooring establish a soft, grounding base. Subtle hits of red ochre and olive green add warmth and rhythm without overwhelming the eye.

Flexible living was key. A pull-out table transforms the kitchen into a dining area; a built-in desk tucks beneath floating shelving. A slatted partition creates privacy for the sleeping area while maintaining a sense of openness and flow.

In the bathrooms, neutral surfaces meet a bold, patterned shower wall—adding a graphic contrast that anchors the scheme. These small yet impactful moments bring energy and individuality to each space.

The result is a quiet celebration of restraint: efficient without feeling clinical, modern yet warm. A respectful revival of a once-overlooked corner, now thoughtfully adapted for a slower, stylish pace of living.
